Evra signs Manchester United extension

Posted by TB  | No comments

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at Old Trafford until the end of the 2014-15 campaign.

The left-back has been vocal in his uncertainty over his future but, the new manager Louis van Gaal was keen to retain the Frenchman's services.

The 33-year-old triggered a unilateral option to extend a contract worth over £6 million annually into a fourth season with his appearance record under the Dutchman's sacked predecessor, David Moyes.

Evra was a target for Serie A champions Juventus - with a two-year deal on offer - but has now opted to remain at Old Trafford.

Despite being keen to keep Evra at the club, manager Van Gaal has also approved United's attempt to sign Luke Shaw from Southampton and it is his intention to split left-back duties between the young England international and veteran Evra.

The former Monaco defender joined Manchester United in 2006 and has enjoyed a highly successful spell in England, winning five Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Juventus target Manchester United duo

Posted by TB  | No comments

Serie A leaders Juventus have been linked with a move for Manchester United duo Nani and Patrice Evra.

Italian newspaper TuttoSport have claimed that the United pair are both on the Juventus radar for the summer, with the ‘Old Lady’ looking to take advantage of the potential squad overhaul at Old Trafford.

Evra, who has long been linked with an exit in the summer, looks set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

According to the TuttoSport report, the 32-year-old Frenchman will not renew his contract in Manchester for family reasons, and has already rejected the club’s opening offer.

Juve are also tracking Portuguese wide-man Nani, who has frustrated the United faithful for many years.

Possessing of obvious talent and skill, the 27-year-old often flatters to deceive, drifting in and out of games, and often struggles for consistency.

Juventus see real potential in the player however, and are willing to take a gamble on the explosive wide-man.

United look set to continue their squad reshuffle this summer, having already sanctioned the sale of Anderson to Fiorentina.

The Brazilian completed a medical in Italy yesterday, and moves to Serie A on loan for the rest of the season.

Along with Nani and Evra, the likes of Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, and Shinji Kagawa have also been linked with moves away recently, with the summer shaping up to be a particularly important one for the club.

What do you think? Should Moyes lose both Nani and Evra? Let US know in the comments below…

Evra : Pogba was a huge loss to United

Posted by TB  | No comments

Patrice Evra says Paul Pogba's decision to leave Manchester United for Juventus was a “truly a huge loss” for the club.

The France international left Old Trafford in the summer of 2012, going on to win the Serie A title in his first season with Juventus.

However, Evra has hailed Pogba’s qualities and says he was well-respected at the club, particularly by some of the Red Devils' most experienced players.

“He very quickly earned the respect of players like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.

“It’s true that have you have to win over the manager too, but to have won the dressing room like he did [was impressive].

“It was truly a huge loss when he left the club.”

The powerful midfielder has recently blamed Sir Alex Ferguson for his decision to leave the club, particularly after he was left out of a game, in a match United went on to lose 3-2.
