After initially bursting onto the scene with Barca and racking up an impressive tally of 162 appearances between 2007 and 2011, the 23-year-old has spent the last three years with Roma, AC Milan and Ajax, enjoying mixed levels of success.
The forward now faces an important decision over his next step, with just one year left on his contract at Camp Nou and stiff competition from the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Pedro and Alexis Sanchez in the attacking positions.
Bojan says he feels he is good enough to play a part for new coach Luis Enrique's side but, although he is keen to keep his options open, the Spaniard hinted that his immediate future could lie away from the club.
"I have no doubt I can play for Barca but I don't know if it would be the best option for me at this time," he said to Marca.
"I don't want to close the door on anything. Where I will play next season is a decision that is key to my career and I want to weigh up all the options: Barcelona, Ajax or other offers that could come in."
Even though the goals may not have flowed freely during his time in Italy and the Netherlands, Bojan believes his all-round game has improved markedly since his initial exit from Barca.
He continued: "At Barcelona from the early days I was seen as a goalscorer. Going somewhere else for a while has shown me I can enjoy games from a perspective other than just scoring goals.
"My Italian adventure was positive because I improved a lot in tactical terms, most of all defensively, which is something I hadn't worked on quite so much.
"In Holland, I have got the buzz back playing as a centre-forward, which is where I perform best. Ajax always appealed to me from when I was young and they gave me a chance to play in the Champions League too."
Bojan scored four times in 24 Eredivisie matches in 2013-14 as Ajax secured a fourth Dutch title in a row under Frank de Boer.
