Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that Bastian Schweinsteiger is expected to be fully match fit in time for the restart of the Bundesliga.
The Germany international underwent ankle surgery last month and has not featured for Bayern since the Champions League win over Viktoria Plzen on November 5.
However, the influential midfielder is on his way back and could make his comeback in the Bundesliga game against Borussia Monchengladbach after the winter break.
"Bastian is to all intents and purposes already in mid-season training. He’s already training at a very high level with runs and sprints," Rummenigge told the official Bayern website.
"And we’re assuming he’ll be able to play a full part in squad training when the team travels to Qatar on 5 January. He should be completely fit in time for the restart."
