Carragher : Lambert is a good signing for Liverpool

Posted by TB  | No comments

The former Liverpool star believes he club's acquisition of Rickie Lambert will prove to be an astute piece of business.

Lambert ,  who is currently preparing for the upcoming World Cup, became Brendan Rodgers' first signing of the transfer window earlier this week, ending his successful five-year stint at Southampton.

The England international striker,a boyhood Liverpool fan, scored 13 Premier League goals last season and bolsters a forward line that already boasts Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, who scored over 50 league goals between them in 2013-14.

Former centre-back Carragher, thinks that Lambert will be a good compliment to Rodgers' attacking options.

"I think it's a very good signing," Carragher told Liverpool's official website.

"He's a local boy, a Liverpool fan, and it's probably been a dream for him.

"There'll be lots of games with Liverpool being involved in the Champions League, so he'll play his part and I'm sure he'll get some goals."

Arsenal and Liverpool interested in signing Balotelli

Posted by TB  | No comments

Mario Balotelli is set to return to the Barclays Premier League next season with Arsenal and Liverpool likely destinations.

The AC Milan striker is sick of the racism he suffers in Italy and it is understood the former Manchester City star realises life in England was not so bad.

Arsenal are in talks with Real Madrid to sign Karim Benzema but will talk to Balotelli’s ‘people’.

Liverpool will move in for Balotelli if Luis Suarez is lured away to Real Madrid or Barcelona after the World Cup.

Liverpool eye Pedro transfer from Barcelona

Posted by TB  | No comments

Liverpool are lining up an audacious move for Spanish World Cup star Pedro.

The Reds have already made a discreet approach to his club Barcelona over the striker’s availability... and been told the 26-year-old IS available at the right price.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has made it clear he is ready to spend big on bringing a third world-class forward to Anfield to complement his devastating attacking duo of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

And Pedro - full name Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma - fits the bill.

He is a World Cup and Euros winner with Spain, and is a proven finisher at the highest level with 14 goals in 37 games for his country.

The fact he is also versatile enough to operate all along the front line appeals to Rodgers, who would love to sign a forward who could play as an out and out striker, but also cut in from wide positions if Suarez or Strurridge play centrally.

Pedro has been told he can leave the Nou Camp, with Barca planning a massive shake-up this summer under newly-appointed coach Luis Enrique.

The evidence he needed that he is no longer wanted by the Catalans came on Wednesday when he, his some-time strike partner Alexis Sanchez and midfielder Cesc Fabregas were all missing from photos used in the launch of the new home kit.

Liverpool close to signing Emre Can

Posted by TB  | No comments

Liverpool are nearing the signature of Emre Can according to reports in the German media.

Brendan Rodgers side are said to be close to reaching a deal worth up to €12m for the Germany U21 international who has made a positive impression in his debut season at Leverkusen.

The 20-year-old Can has scored four goals and provided as many assists this season after joining from Bayern Munich in the summer.

It is thought that he is one of a number of players Liverpool are keen to sign as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of next year's participation in the Champions League.

Can's arrival at Anfield would seem to signal the end of Lucas Leiva's Liverpool career, the Brazilian playing in a similar role to the youngster but also plagued by injuries in recent years.

Leiva has also stoked rumour of his departure with the following tweet after Liverpool's final game of the season: "Yesterday I finished my 7th season with Liverpool.

Liverpool and Arsenal face transfer fight over Jordan Obita

Posted by TB  | No comments

Liverpool and Arsenal both want to sign Reading starlet Jordan Obita this summer.

England Under-19s left back Obita, 20, won rave reviews while making 36 appearances for the Championship side this past season and is on the radar of both the Premier League giants.

Liverpool have been tracking him for months, and the Gunners also see him as one for the future.

Reds' boss Brendan Rodgers has already gone on record as saying that improving the team's defensive options is key to maintaining a title challenge next season.

In the absence of injured Spanish left-back Jose Enrique, on-loan Aly Cissokho and even England right-back Glen Johnson were used in one of the team's problem positions.

Arsenal have Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal as left-backs, but are impressed by Obita's potential.

Liverpool and Arsenal battling it out for Milner

Posted by TB  | No comments

The Gunners will hold talks with City this week as they prepare to lodge a £10m offer, according to reports.

But Liverpool want Milner too and are weighing up whether to lodge a firm bid for the England international.

Milner reportedly told City last month that he was frustrated with his fringe role at the club.

He has started less than half of City's game since moving from Aston Villa in 2010 - and just 12 of 38 this season.

City are under the pump to meet Uefa and Premier League home-grown player quotas and want Milner to sign a new four-year contract.

However, he would rather leave on a free when his current deal ends, at the end of next season, than pen an extension.

But interested suitors will want to move fast.

Milner is currently preparing for this summer's World Cup and Roy Hodgson has ordered all his Three Lions stars to nail down their futures before flying out to Miami on June 1.

Liverpool Summer Transfer targets

Posted by TB  | No comments

Liverpool have an extensive list of potential summer targets, with Southampton’s Dejan Lovren, Xherdan Shaqiri of Bayern Munich and Chelsea’s Ryan Bertrand all in Brendan Rodgers’ sights.

Croatian centre-back Lovren enjoyed an excellent debut season on the south coast, but has emerged as a prime target of Rodgers, who is monitoring several possible recruits for the heart of his defence.

Lovren cost £8.5 million when he joined the Saints last season and his valuation will have significantly increased.

Liverpool have made Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana a priority signing as Mauricio Pochettino’s side are in danger of being broken up over the summer. However, with a move for Lallana stalling, Liverpool have a back-up plan to line up Swiss international Shaqiri.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been scouted extensively by Liverpool since his Basle days and, at around £10 million, would be considerably cheaper than Lallana.

Rodgers will also revive his pursuit of Chelsea full-back Bertrand as he seeks to find a solution at left-back.
Part of the problem in negotiating for Bertrand is Chelsea may not be willing to sell to a top-four rival. There is also bad blood between the clubs following Liverpool’s loan capture of Victor Moses, who they barely used.

Bertrand, 24, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, is Rodgers’ preferred choice at left-back, although Seville’s Alberto Moreno has also been extensively scouted.

Rodgers has made it clear he wants well-established players added to his squad, including a striker to add competition with Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suárez.

One of those under consideration is Swansea’s Wilfried Bony, who - like Lovren - enjoyed an impressive first season in the Premier League.

Bony would command a fee in excess of £15 million.

Meanwhile, Rodgers says there is no possibility of his captain Steven Gerrard dwelling on his Premier League disappointment when the World Cup starts.

“I have no concerns whatsoever,” said Rodgers.

“I think Steven will go away and when he reflects on what has been personally a brilliant season of football, he has been very unfairly pointed out in terms of his slip. It could have happened in the third game, it could have happened in the fourth game ,but it certainly wasn’t anywhere near the defining moment of our season. That was not what cost us the league.

"It was more games when we won the games. When we won 5-3 at Stoke when we conceded, when we won 6-3 at Cardiff, when we won 4-3 at home and conceded three. It was those games, not Steven’s slip or Kolo’s [Toure] misplaced pass [at West Brom]. Because he [Steven] is a very conscientious boy and he loves Liverpool and he is very hard on himself.

"He’s his own worst critic but he comes away recognising that he has been involved in a real title run-in and next season he will be better for it and we will be a better squad for it and we will be ready to fight again and he will play a pivotal part in it. He will take that confidence into a world cup.

“I always say to players when you go to England don’t think of Liverpool. Think about your country and the team you are playing for.

"One of his qualities is that he can do that. He is a model professional at that, he is very proud to play for England and captain his country and I am sure he will go and do the country proud again.”

Liverpool to bid for Lallana

Posted by TB  | No comments

Liverpool are set to table a bid for Southampton playmaker Adam Lallana this summer, according to Sky sources.

The 25-year-old is expected to feature heavily for England at the World Cup finals in Brazil after a superb season for the Saints.

Lallana, recently voted Southampton's Player of the Year, has scored nine goals in 37 Premier League games this season.

He also has six assists and has created 69 chances for his team while earning regular England call-ups alongside team-mates Rickie Lambert, Jay Rodriguez and Luke Shaw.

Yaya Toure, Steven Gerrard and Eden Hazard are the only other midfielders to have scored more league goals than Lallana this term, while Aaron Ramsey and Raheem Sterling have also scored nine.

Southampton have insisted that they have received no official bid for the player from Liverpool.

Ahead of Southampton's final game of the season with Manchester United on Sunday, Saints coach Mauricio Pochettino said he was only aware of what has been reported in the media.

"I pretty much have the same information you have. The club has not spoken to me officially about anything (regarding Adam)," he said.

Sky sources suggest that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is determined to complete a deal to sign Lallana before England depart for Brazil on June 8.

Rodgers : Title race not over yet

Posted by TB  | No comments

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has refused to concede the Premier League title to Manchester City ahead of the final day of the season, while also revealing he is close to signing a new contract.

Rodgers admitted the crown would go to Liverpool's north-west rivals after the 3-3 draw at Crystal Palace on Monday night, but told his press conference for Sunday's meeting with Newcastle that he had not given up on a first league trophy in 24 years.

Firstly, the Reds must beat the Magpies at Anfield and hope West Ham overturn leaders City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with both matches live on Sky Sports.

Rodgers is hopeful that the Hammers have enough quality to help Liverpool out with their side of the bargain and said: "It's certainly not over.

"First and foremost, we can only concentrate on our job, our job is to win the game.

"I think Alan (Pardew) will come and he'll want to finish his season strong. We know that it's a tough game.

"But the combination of us at home and our supporters has been fantastic for us. To look to get 16 wins out of 19 come the weekend would pencil in a great return for us at home.

"For them (Manchester City), West Ham have got some really talented players. To be able to go to Tottenham and win 3-0, you can certainly go to Manchester City and win, specially if you a guy like big Andy (Carroll) up front with the quality that he has.

"City have got a really good defensive record, 14-odd clean sheets I think, so it shows that they're a really difficult team to play against.

"So our focus is on ourselves, if we do our job then I'll be happy."

Gerrard to be offered Liverpool extension

Posted by TB  | No comments

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will be offered an extended contract at the end of the season.

The England international has excelled in a new deeper role this season, making 32 appearances and scoring 13 goals as Liverpool have stormed to the top of the Premier League table.

His current deal expires in June 2015, but Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is confident the 33-year-old can contribute beyond next term.

"Steven will be one we look to get a contract to in the summer," the Northern Irishman told The Liverpool Echo.

"With a year to go, it's something we will address.

"I believe Steven will play beyond 2015. He is a player who has really shown his qualities this season.

"Come the summer, he will still only be 34. Looking towards the future, I still think he's going to be a key part of our squad.

"He has dropped into a new position and played it seamlessly. His intelligence in the game is second to none. He is improving all the time.

"It's one where he has been brilliant for me as a captain and as a player this season and I would like that to continue.

"Most clubs, especially bigger clubs, recognise now that once a player gets over a certain age you have to look at a contract's duration.

"But for me Steven still has so much to offer and I really want him beside me here working on the field."

Table-toppers Liverpool travel to Crystal Palace on Monday, though they could begin the game third in the table if Manchester City and Chelsea both win this weekend.

Rodgers to sign new Liverpool deal

Posted by TB  | No comments

The Northern Irishman's current deal expires in the summer of 2015 but, having led the Reds to the brink of a first league title in 24 years, an extension is expected

Brendan Rodgers says he is "sure" he will sign a new contract with Liverpool at the end of the season.

The Northern Irishman has led his side to within touching distance of a first league title in 24 years, sitting five points clear at the top with three matches left to play.

Rodgers signed a three-year deal in June 2012, but – having seen his team secure qualification for next season's Champions League at the very least – he is expected to earn a new contract.

"There is nothing really until the end of the season, but there is no doubt that at some point we will agree another deal," the 41-year-old said. "I am sure of that."

While several clubs are expected to be interested in Rodgers, the former Swansea manager insists he still has a lot to achieve at Liverpool.

"Pride would be a good word to describe the overall evolution of the club and how it is been growing on and off the field - but it is also the job," he added.

"This is a giant of a club in the football world and to be able to build it up again and see how the supporters, and also the general public are enjoying Liverpool, is great.

"I knew it was a huge club and that is why I came, and because of the history and the great past, but it is not until you live it every day of your life you actually realise how big."

Suarez : I'm more angel than demon

Posted by TB  | No comments

Liverpool star Luis Suarez insists he is more of "an angel than a demon" despite the series of controversies that have blighted his career.

Suarez has attracted as much criticism as praise during his time in England as a result of his racism row with Patrice Evra and biting of Branislav Ivanovic.

But the Uruguayan has let his football do the talking this season, scoring an incredible 24 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions to spearhead a surprise Liverpool title surge.

And despite his past indiscretions, Suarez is adamant he is a nice person away from the football pitch.

"I think I'm more an angel than a demon," he told Telefoot. "I'm very shy in life."

Suarez also insisted he makes an effort to adjust to the country in which he plays, hinting he might one day consider a move to France when questioned about Paris Saint-Germain.

"I always try to learn the culture and language of the country where I play," he added. "I did it in Netherlands and now I speak English.

"So if I play abroad in the future, I'll learn the language and I'll learn French if I play in France."

But despite this, the 27-year-old remains clear on what he wants to achieve with Liverpool.

"My main objective is to play in the Champions League with Liverpool," he revealed. "Playing a Champions League game at Anfield would be awesome."

SHARE YOUR OPINION : What was wrong with Arsenal today?

Posted by TB  | No comments

Embarrassing match for Arsenal today. Today was the worst match of the season , for Arsenal , for its defense , and of course , for Mesut Ozil. The german star can be easily  selected as FLOP OF THE MATCH. He failed to make any impact in today's match.
    The DEFENSE :
Worst match of the season for them too. Montreal completely outruled by Sterling pace and movement. Mertesacker and Koscielny not compact. They hardly brooke any of Liverpool attack/counter-attack or won any fight with Suarez/Sturridge.
    Arsene Wenger.
Wrong choice of players , and not givin much advices for his own players. Gibbs > Montreal.

What about you? What you think ? Let us know by commenting down here..
